Hike Your Pie Off at Rancho Cañada del Oro!
About this Event
Have family in town? Tell them to take a hike—with us! Get outside and hike off your Thanksgiving meal with us.
Get your blood pumping with this moderate 5-mile guided hike through South Rancho (formerly known as Blair Ranch). Learn about our efforts to restore pond turtle and red-legged frog habitat as well as plans for opening this side of the preserve to the public. We will be starting at the overflow parking lot and will hike up the steep ridge ranch road (about 500 elevation gain in less than 1/2 mile). We will hike out to a scenic overlook that views the Chesbro Reservior.
Wet weather can impact the the safety of trails. In the case of wet and slippery trails, hike leads will move this hike to the Mayfair-Ranch to Longwall Trails (approx 4.7 miles long). If there is hazardous or stormy weather during the event, it will be cancelled outright.
Please bring layers, sun protection, and water. Meet us at the overflow parking lot.
Note that the overflow lot does not have a restroom-- we recommend stopping by the main lot before joining us if nature calls! Please note that we do not allow pets at this preserve.
