Yay waterfalls, hooray for waterfalls, we love waterfalls! Yes, we do enjoy hiking to waterfalls and who doesn't like hiking to waterfalls? Nobody we know! At any rate, we will be hiking to two waterfalls located up Little River and below Hemlock Lake. The hikes to Hemlock Falls and Yakso Falls are short and sweet and for some extra mileage, we will hike up Hemlock Creek, where we can enjoy two more waterfalls on the way.

Entry or parking fee: none
Route: From the trailhead at Lake in the Woods, we will hike to Hemlock Falls and then Yakso Falls. For those wishing to hike a bit further, hikers can walk up the Hemlock Creek Trail from the lake and then turn around when they feel they've gone far enough. The official route for the Hemlock Creek portion will take us to the intersection with the Yellowjacket Loop and back.
Distance: 2.8 miles (just the falls), 8.8 miles to Yellowjacket Loop
Elevation gain: 320 feet (just the falls), 1740 feet to Yellowjacket Loop.
Difficulty level: Easiest (to just the two falls), strenuous (to Yellowjacket Loop)
Pluses: Waterfalls! Forest! A lake! And did we mention waterfalls?
Minuses: It's that time of the year when the weather can get cold, wet, and even snowy!

On the day of the hike: Meet at 8 am in the Douglas County Courthouse parking lot off of Fowler St., right behind the library building.
Bring water, lunch, and appropriate clothing for hiking.
If you are riding with somebody, be prepared to share gas expenses with your driver. Please do not attend if you feel sick, are coughing, or have a fever.
The club hikes every other Saturday, rain or shine. Hiking is free, everybody is welcome.
