Hike Around and Write
About this Event
Jayne's Hill is the highest point on Long Island with an elevation of between 387 feet (118 m) and 400.9 feet (122.2 m) above sea level. It is located in West Hills Park in Huntington Station, NY. For this event, attendees will hike up to Jayne's Hill and write poetry (or do other creative work) with poet Christina M. Rau.
"We'll meet at the park below Jayne's Hill and hike to the top. We'll write at the top (folks can also draw, doodle, or not create anything) and then hike down. Sharing what we wrote is optional. Bringing a bagged lunch to eat at the park also optional," says Rau. Children under 8 free.
Bring a notebook and a pen or pencil, plus water.
Christina M. Rau, The Yoga Poet, leads Meditate, Move, & Create™️workshops for various organizations worldwide. Her collections include the forthcoming Women in Space! and the Elgin Award-winning Liberating The Astronauts (Aqueduct Press). She moderates the Women’s Poetry Listserv and served as Poet in Residence for Oceanside Library (NY) 2020-2025.
