A legend in the long-distance hiking community, Heather has set Fastest Known Times (FKTs) on trails such as the Appalachian Trail (AT), Arizona Trail, and Pacific Crest Trail (PCT). In 2018 she became the first female hiker to complete a calendar year Triple Crown of Thru-Hiking, hiking the AT, PCT, and Continental Divide Trail (CDT) in one year. For this feat, she was honored as a National Geographic Adventurer of the Year. Heather has written several books about her journeys including Thirst: 2600 Mile to Home; Mud, Rocks, Blazes: Letting Go on the Appalachian Trail; and Farther: Eight Months on America’s Triple Crown Trails.
