263 years ago this June, an army of British Regulars, South Carolinians, and allied American Indians commanded by James Grant invaded the homeland of the Cherokee in the North Carolina mountains. To commemorate the anniversary of this destructive campaign, living history interpreters will represent some of the types of soldiers on duty in South Carolina at the time, as well as the followers who supported soldiers in the field.
Featured outdoor activities include scheduled musket firing demonstrations as well as a presentation about the campaign by Historic Interpreter Jason Melius.
This program will take place entirely outdoors, but guided tours of Fort Dobbs will be offered on a reduced schedule throughout the day.
10am-4pm Saturday. The event is FREE but fort tours are $2 per person.
