Highland Park Resistance Crawl

General Strike L.A., in partnership with other local grassroots groups, is hosting a neighborhood resistance crawl/march through Highland Park!The plan is to start at the Grocery Outlet and march up Figueroa and then cut across to York, ending at Avenue 50, passing restaurants and bars en route, distributing zines and other materials you or your groups want to bring. Not everyone has to canvass, you can just have fun and march! Your presence is enough. The goal of this is to provide people with actionable ways in which they can get involved in their communities, whether it is a co-op, a garden, a voter registration group, mutual aid, a rapid response group, a local tenants' union, a book club, etc...
Think of this march as a moving billboard for the people eating and drinking in the neighborhood- it's best to keep the messaging simple and straightforward and big and bold! We also want our presence to serve as a reminder that ICE is still very much in our communities, committing crimes, kidnapping people, and they are NOT WELCOME!
The Trump regime has shown it's willing to do anything to maintain its power. ICE kidnappings and killings have surged to an all-time high. They have threatened to arrest election officials who don't comply. They are trying to deploy every voter suppression tactic in the book. The police-surveillance state is here. How do we combat it? How do we stop it? We stop funding the companies who are funding MAGA's authoritarian agenda. We resist through our local communities. We refuse to comply. And we get seriously organized through our local groups.
We want this to be fun and festive- bring your speakers, bring your instruments, bring music!
