The combination of morning high tides and the wader migration can produce a great spectacle at Frampton Marsh. Join us for a gentle stroll with plenty of time to observe the birds, led by a friendly guide.
During autumn, thousands of wading birds travel along the East Coast Flyway, en route from their breeding grounds in the north to wintering grounds in the south. The Wash is a vital stopping off point for them, allowing them to rest and refuel. When the tides are large, the birds get pushed off the mudflats and saltmarsh, and onto the reserve. Other creatures can be seen too, such as hares swimming to escape the flooded saltmarsh, or seals coming unusually close to the seabank.
These relaxed walks are a great way to enjoy the spectacle of big high tides at Frampton, with one of our team of wildlife guides to help identify the birds on show. We then end with a complimentary breakfast (sausage or veggie sausage bap, and an Americano coffee or a tea) in the cafe.
