Team Kawachi Ondo to Perform at Higashi Honganji Obon Festival in Little Tokyo Sunday, July 26 at 6PM

The Japanese home prefecture organization LA Kansai Club announces that the dancer and singer troupe Team Kawachi Ondo will perform at the Higashi Honganji Los Angeles Temple Obon Festival in Little Tokyo on Sunday, July 26, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m. This year’s presentation carries special significance as the troupe honors the memory of their late lead singer and Kansai Club President, Dr. Shinichi Hirokawa, who passed away in December 2025 at the age of 62.
The performance by Team Kawachi Ondo will open with the poignant Yamagata Hanagasa Ondo, setting a reflective and respectful tone. The program will then continue with Niigata’s Sado Okesa in honor of Dr. Hirokawa, followed by Pokemon Ondo, Totoro Ondo, Sakura Ondo, Tanko Bushi, and Tokyo Ondo.
Team Kawachi Ondo, consisting of members of the LA Kansai Club, aims to honor tradition while offering an uplifting experience for the community.
The Higashi Honganji Los Angeles Temple Obon Festival is open to the public with free admission. The LA Kansai Club invites friends, family, and the wider community to join this special occasion of music, dance, and cultural celebration.
