The Sherbourne is the City’s main river and played a great part in its history. The dyeing trade based on the river led to the phrase “true as Coventry blue”, the Charterhouse was built on its banks just outdide the City walls. The lecture will include bone roads, hidden treasure, and whales! And also the wonderful history surrounding the mills, bridges and other structures along the Sherbourne.
