Mr. Oliver is the alter ego of Antwerp native Alexander Devroe (30). He has been playing guitar since he was 10 years old, but his development into a singer-songwriter really came in 2023 with the release of his debut album ‘Between Good Days’. His music is characterised by dreamy soundscapes, personal lyrics and his own guitar style. He is also guitarist with New Lighting and Soundtrack finalist Noonzy and has already played in this capacity at venues including Maanrock, De Casino (support Admiral Freebee), OLT Rivierenhof and Tivoli (support Warhaus).
Désespoir des singes
Désespoir des singes is a nickname for araucaria trees, but it is also a new indie-folk project on the Brussels scene. Beneath this deceptively French name lies a project sung in English and inspired by folk greats such as Kings of Convenience but also by Radiohead and Tamino. Désespoir des singes (Despair of the Monkeys) has its roots in the Dinant region. Jérôme crossed paths with this tree, as majestic as it is tortuous. This tree is the true symbol of the project: dreamy and ethereal at first glance, if you listen carefully, it's darker and sharper than it appears.
