About this Event
Secret worlds that make up the tapestry of nature. Gregory’s personal interpretation of Microcosms is a story about an organisms’ impact they have on existing environments and their role’s significance, no matter how small.
Small wildflowers are often seen as weeds but these flowers are necessary for all pollinators, flora, and fauna alike to survive. The pollinators like butterflies, moths, birds, even flies, and mosquitoes are just as crucial to the survival of the plants and flowers. Our existence relies on the wellbeing of these tiny creatures and plants. If we were to lose our miniature worlds it would disrupt the entire planet. Everything in nature is interconnected and some of the smallest things are crucial for the planet’s health.
Gregory uses recycled and ethically sourced materials in all of his art, he believes it’s important to be aware of where your work materials come from and where they end up when you throw them away. Mr. Dirr says “this act of repurposing materials into my process is crucial to the deep structure of this work, our waste and pollution has a huge effect on our micro ecosystems.”
This exhibition seeks to call attention to nature’s microcosms and shine a light on how important they are.
