About this Event
Greece has a wine story most people have never heard — and our we happen to be intimately familiar with it.
In this one-hour tasting class, Lauren is taking us deep into three of Greece's most compelling and least-explored wine regions: Tinos, a windswept Cycladic island where ancient own-rooted vines cling to volcanic hillsides; Epirus, a rugged mountain region in the northwest producing some of the country's most distinctive sparkling wines; and Kefalonia, the Ionian island whose limestone soils yield wines of startling freshness and character. Having traveled extensively throughout Greece to bring more of the wines to the US, Lauren has a depth of knowledge of the region that's hard to find elsewhere!
We'll taste through indigenous varieties you're unlikely to encounter anywhere else and discuss Ancient Greece's influence on modern European winemaking. Along the way, we'll dig into what makes Greek terroir so singular: the geology, the climate, the traditions that predate the Roman Empire.
This is a class for the curious!
