Discover the hidden life of New South Wales’ estuaries.
The NSW Estuarine Asset Protection program was established after the 2022–2023 floods to better understand estuaries across the state, using cutting-edge environmental DNA techniques, which detected everything from fish, fur seals, and platypus to invasive cane toads, weeds and water buffaloes.
With over 10,000 species revealed across the state, this talk explores what’s living in our waterways, why it matters, and how this knowledge can help manage and protect estuaries for the future.
Date: Thursday, 4 June 2026
