About this Event

Step back in time on this 90-minute private walking tour of Cambridge, led by a graduate or current student of the University of Cambridge. Explore more than 1000 years of history, from ancient churches to iconic sites of scientific discovery, and discover the stories that shaped this remarkable city.

In just an hour and a half, walk through a thousand years of human history: from an Anglo-Saxon church tower to a contemporary (and controversial) clock that doesn’t even tell the time properly. See the rooms where Newton wrote his theory of gravity and hear the truth behind the apple tree myth. Visit the pub where Watson and Crick announced one of the greatest discoveries of the twentieth century. Marvel at some of the greatest examples of Gothic and Neoclassical architecture in the world. Inspiring, baffling, and downright outrageous: Cambridge is a city full of stories waiting to be told.

Meet at the entrance of King’s College on King’s Parade and look out for your guide wearing at least one royal blue element, such as a hat, shirt, or uniform, featuring the coat of arms of Alumni Tours.

Wear comfortable, supportive shoes and dress appropriately for potentially bad weather and muddy terrain. Wheelchair users are welcome. Be cautious of uneven surfaces, curbs, and potential trip hazards. Be aware of vehicles and bicycles, particularly in busy areas.
