HERS LISTENING SESSION 003: NYARA, Hip-Hop + Ballroom + Club Edits

HERS presents Session 003, an interactive listening session celebrating Black Music Month and Pride through the sounds of Hip Hop, Ballroom, and Club Edits.
Born from Black creativity, innovation, and community, these genres have long shaped dance floors, fashion, culture, and self-expression around the world. This session explores the threads that connect them, from the storytelling and confidence of Hip Hop, to the liberation and performance of Ballroom culture, to the reimagined energy of Club Edits that transform familiar records into something entirely new.
At the center of the experience is a featured set by NYARA, a black, queer DJ from St. Louis whose approach to genre-blending creates moments of discovery, movement, and connection. Through carefully crafted transitions and unexpected pairings, she'll guide guests through a soundscape that celebrates Black musical influence, queer cultural contributions, and the communities that continue to push music forward.
Expect iconic anthems, underground gems, high-energy remixes, vogue-ready beats, and records that invite you to sing, move, react, and experience music alongside fellow music lovers.
Community Agreements:
- Respect the experience, the people, and the space.
- Enjoy yourself. Sing along, react, nod, laugh, cry, and hype the DJ when the moment calls for it.
- Move your body if you feel the urge. Let it respond naturally to the music.
- Do NOT interrupt the flow. The DJ does not take requests. This set is curated.
- HERS is intentionally centered around women and nonbinary DJs. Honor that intention and the space it creates.
- All humans who love music are welcome here.
Important Notes for the Evening:
- Doors open at 12:30 PM
- Arrive on time to experience the session and market fully
- This is an 18+ event
