HERITAGE TALK: DEAR SIR…..LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

We are always very pleased to welcome Janis Blower, who is a very good friend of the Old Low Light Heritage Centre, having delivered several very well received talks over the years.

On this occasion, she will explain how as long as there have been newspapers there have been readers keen to see their own views – whether outraged, occasionally provocative, sometimes funny or sad – in print.

In Dear Sir…Letters to the Editor, retired journalist Janis explores some of the issues, from saving lives at sea, to polluted streets and the drama of war that provoked correspondents to take up their pens over 170-years of her old paper, the Shields Gazette.
