About this Event

Since 2016, we have planted over 3, 000 trees as hedgerows and small copses, filling open ground, and as part of felling and re-stocking activity in the woodland. We are currently planting trees to create woodland rides in the interior of our woodland - this does several things: it improves bio-diversity by introducing a mid-layer of trees and it directs footfall throughout the woodland protecting undisturbed areas and allowing maximum wilding to take place.
Then there is maintenance - as each section of trees grows, we need to W**d out any grass and maybe treat the young trees to some natural composting to boost their wellbeing. Once the trees start to emerge from their mini private greenhouses (aka tree shelters ) we can remove the shelters and re-use them somewhere else around site. Our shelters are 1.2 m high and thereby stop our wonderful family of Roe Deer from eating them before they have had chance to get established. The shelters and strengthening stakes are kindly funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and our trees funded by The Woodland Trust - free trees for schools and community groups
There is no lower age limit to this activity, though the steepness of the woodland makes it difficult for anyone with mobility issues.
Fetch a packed lunch and we will keep you plied with barista coffees and speciality teas from our very own BaaBucks - coffee station

Notice re charges
As from January 2025, we will be making a nominal entry fee of £5.00 per person for this event. Proceeds will go towards funds for the CIC. If you have already booked in with us, don't worry, we will collect cash on the door on the day!
As we develop our organisation, we need to raise funds from our activities, some of this we can do by offsetting our minor costs eg. coffees and teas. That said, we will retain a number of complimentary tickets, please do not hesitate to contact me: Gill Taylor at the email address below, for more information & to book.
As one of our core values is access for everyone, we will continue to offer access free of charge for schools and community groups, if you want your group to visit, again, please get in touch.
We look forward to welcoming you!
Gill
