About this Event

Our next Heritage Friend Event will take place at the Rebecca Nurse Homestead. Sitting on 25+ acres of an original 300 acres, the property holds the traditional saltbox home lived in by the Nurse family. This is the only home of a person executed during the trials open to the public.

Join us for a candlelit walk-through of the Nurse family home, and experience fall the way 17th-century Puritans did, by the glow of candlelight, as the household adjusted to the season's shortening days. Take a quiet, atmospheric look at daily life in one of Danvers' oldest homes and enjoy light refreshments.

This event is free for Essex Heritage members (registration required). Non-member registration is $5 per person. Space is limited.

Free parking is available on site. Tours will begin promptly at 5:45pm and 6:00pm.

Important Information:

  • To those who have sensitivity to dark spaces, or flickering lights please note that the interior of the Nurse family home will be lit only with flickering candles, and it will be partially dark inside.
  • For this experience we do NOT allow the use of flashlights or flash photography while in the house.
  • The grounds of the museum consist of uneven dirt, grass, and gravel paths.
  • Due to the historic nature of the buildings, we are not wheelchair accessible, and entering our buildings requires one or more steps up into the building.
