Heritage and history in Brandon Ward
We warmly invite you to a meeting on Friday 12th June at 6 - 7pm in St. Andrew's Church Hall, Carr Avenue, Brandon to share your ideas of beautiful buildings, landscapes, trees and views in Brandon ward. Historic England's top-down approach based on the Historic Environment Record (HER) may have recognised the very finest of buildings but also misses out on lots of places which local communities like ours would like to see valued and protected. We wish to record and develop your ideas on other places in your area. At present, there are only SEVEN listed buildings in the whole of Brandon and Byshottles Parish out of a total of almost 1,500 on the HER List for County Durham.
We are sure that there is plenty of scope for expanding the HER Durham List. This meeting is the start of this process and provides an ideal opportunity for local people and groups to make a difference and suggest new places to put on the HER list. Do come along and tell us which places are special to you in this area.
