Join us for an exciting day of history and hands-on activities, perfect for children aged 5–12 and their families! Immerse yourselves in the fascinating world of archaeology as you explore the ancient treasures of the Herefordshire Hoard and enjoy activities designed to inspire curiosity and creativity.Kids go free in the Black & White House, adults £3.50.
Activities on the Day:
- Craft Your Own Viking Bangle – Get creative and make your very own Viking-inspired bangle to take home!
- History Detectives Tuff Tray Dig – Become a mini archaeologist and dig for treasures like a true history detective.
- Viking Photobooth – Dress up as a Viking warrior and capture the moment in our themed photobooth.
No booking required!
Please note you can view the Hoard between 12.30pm & 1.30pm but there will be no activities at this time.
About the Herefordshire Hoard
The Herefordshire Hoard is one of the most significant Viking treasures ever discovered in Western Britain. So far, only part of the collection has been recovered, including remarkable items like a gold arm bangle with an animal head clasp, a crystal pendant encased in gold, a gold octagonal ring, and a silver ingot.
An unusual and important aspect of this discovery involves the Heritage Crime committed by those who found it, leading to the largest police heritage crime investigation and resulting in long custodial sentences. Police efforts continue in the hope of recovering more of the hoard.
