About this Event
This groundbreaking exhibition offers visitors a unique opportunity to discover the rich and resilient history of Black people within The United Church of Canada. Through stories of leadership, struggle, and triumph, the exhibition highlights the indelible mark left by Black individuals on the church's history, work, and mission. The exhibition aims to enable attendees to recall the history of the United Church through the perspectives of Black people, uncovering often-overlooked aspects of the church’s history and interpreting its legacy through a new lens.
While you casually journey through the exhibit, complimentary refreshments and sweets will be provided. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in an intergenerational art piece. Guests will also enjoy the music of André Brewster. André has toured, played, and recorded with Canadian jazz crooner Matt Dusk, Canadian rap icon Kardinal Offishall, Canadian R&B diva Jully Black, and 2006 Canadian Idol Winner, Eva Avila, along with many other local artists.
This exhibit will be open from 12pm-4pm, with visitors invited to drop in at any time. The exhibition promises to educate, inspire, and empower visitors with its message of unity and belonging.
