Herbalism & Natural Skincare for Teens

Come explore the world of natural skincare at Hawk Creek Farm with me, Emelina, a community herbalist and creator of a local San Francisco based beauty brand for sensitive skinned humans.

As a long time elementary teacher I feel strongly about giving teens the right tools to care for their skin without chemicals. In this 2-hour class, I’ll guide students through how to start their natural skincare journey in a way that feels accessible and realistic. Together we'll meet, identify and learn about the healing properties of plants that can be used in their natural skincare ritual that grow abundantly in San Francisco.

We'll learn what ingredients to avoid in skincare products and even make our own face or body oil. We'll experience the healing ritual of clay as a fun natural alternative to pimple patches and chemical face masks. Together we'll explore gentle, plant based ways to care for your skin in a playful relaxed setting. Plus everyone will get to take home some freebies (a $45 value) to help them leave feeling empowered and ready to care for your skin with earth, flowers, oil and water.

Info: We'll tour Hawk Creek Farm while identifying different plants that can be used in natural skin and haircare routines.

Info: What better way to learn about the healing benefits of clay masks then to experience it first hand. We'll mix and apply a clay mask in this playful sensory activity.

Info: We've been sold the narrative that we need chemicals to care for our skin but we'll discuss ways to care for your skin in a new way. While our clay masks dry we'll learn about 2-3 herbs that can support skin health and learn ways to balance skin pH, restore your sebum layer, and moisturize your skin with just plants, clay oil and water. We'll also discuss common ingredients to avoid when using store bought products.

Info: We'll rinse off clay masks and pamper ourselves with hyrosols and oils

Info: Now that you have the knowledge you'll put it to use crafting either a body or face oil of your choosing. I'll have dried herbs available as well as oils and you'll get to blend your own oil unique to you and your skin needs.
