Her City Walk in London

Participants will work in small facilitated groups, using the seven Her City principles, from South Hampstead to Fitzrovia.
About this Event

The London Her City Based Walk will guide participants from South Hampstead to Ryder’s London office in Fitzrovia. Using the Her City methodology, the walk will explore how urban and residential environments are experienced by women, girls, and underrepresented groups, focusing on safety, inclusion, and everyday lived experience.
The route will include key stops at:

• Alexandra Road Estate
• Chalcots Estate
• Primrose Hill
• Regent’s Park Estate

Along the way, participants will pass through both some of London’s most affluent neighbourhoods and areas facing more challenging residential conditions, creating a direct comparison between different housing typologies, public realm quality, and perceptions of safety, comfort, and belonging.

Participants will work in small facilitated groups, using the seven Her City principles, including visibility, safety, wayfinding, and inclusion, to assess each location. Each group will focus on selected principles, encouraging detailed observation and discussion, and helping to identify spaces that feel welcoming, overlooked, or in need of improvement.

Observations will be captured through focused visual documentation and the walk will conclude at Ryder’s office with a group feedback session, where key themes, shared experiences, and potential interventions will be discussed.

Insights from the walk will feed directly into an accompanying panel event held at Ryder's London office in the Autumn.

Back to Ryder's office for feedback, refreshments and closing presentation: 14:45 - 15:30
