Part 1: Understanding Cameras and Lenses
2pm to 3pm
This session will focus on the basics of camera operation and how to understand aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and focus. You will also learn the importance of a lens’s focal length and understand what lenses are most useful for different genres of photography.
By the end of this session, you will be more confident when you take control of your camera.
Part 2: An Introduction to Composition
3.30pm to 4.30pm
This session will enable you to make more interesting and better composed images. Composition is at the core of great photography whatever your level of experience and ability. By learning and applying these concepts your images will become more interesting and more memorable whether you are taking family photographs or pictures that you want to hang on your wall.
By the end of the session, you will understand key photography ideas such as the rule of thirds, leading lines, curves, isolation, framing, and scale.
Part 3: Photowalk
5pm – 6.30pm
After parts 1 & 2, we'll head out into downtown Ottawa with our instructor and practise the new skills that you’ve learnt on the course!
