Get ready for a fun and informative experience on Saturday, April 25, from 10 AM to 12 PM in the Weiler Room at the Knoxville Public Library! The Henry Knox Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is excited to present a workshop titled, “So you've joined DAR now what?” Our very own Erin Mullins has crafted a fantastic program, and she's eager to share valuable insights with the community.
This workshop is open to everyone! Whether you're a current DAR member, a potential member, men, women, kids, or just someone curious about what we do—you're all welcome! Come along if you have a project in mind that you think fits our mission, if you've been contemplating joining and want to learn more, or if you're an existing member looking to explore the vast opportunities available to us. And hey, if you find the organization intriguing, we can get you information to get you started on your journey to becoming a member.
You might be wondering, “What exactly is the DAR?” Well, if you have a patriot in your family history—someone who was a Revolutionary War Veteran or a supporter of the cause—you may just qualify! While men often hold the title of patriot, there are also women who fit that criteria. To become a member of the DAR, you need to prove your lineage and be a woman over the age of 18. If you’re younger, check out the Children of the American Revolution (C.A.R.), and guess what? We have a chapter right here in Knoxville! For the gentlemen, the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) is another great option.
So, what do we do at the DAR? We promote community involvement by focusing on historic preservation, education, and patriotism. There are numerous avenues to explore, and this workshop is just the place to discover what aligns with your interests!
Our Knoxville chapter meets monthly, and we've hosted exciting events in the past, including the Revolutionary War Traveling Exhibit at KPAC. There’s so much you can get involved with, and we can’t wait to see you there! Bring a friend, jot down some notes, and we’ll provide some tasty snacks. See you soon!
