Henning Park Planting Workday & Workshop
On this workday volunteers will:
🌿 Plant native trees that will provide habitat and shade above ground, and riverbank-stabilizing root structure below.
🌿 Learn how to collect and propagate willow and dogwood live stakes for bank stabilization
🌿 Learn how to identify and treat woody invasives
🌿 Perform maintenance on and collect native seeds from the rain gardens around Henning Park.
Lunch is sponsored by NCEC. Volunteers are invited to bring washed, cut vegetables or toppings to add for a community-made soup feast.
Come for just part or stay all day. Your help will make a healthier, more resilient Muskegon River and Newaygo.
We will have tools on hand for the workday, we recommend that volunteers wear sturdy shoes or boots, waterproof is good as some of the plantings may be wet.
In the event of severe weather this event will move to Saturday, November 14th.
