Welcome to the Hemet Fire Department Girls Empowerment Camp!
The Hemet Fire Department is proud to announce that we will be hosting the 3rd annual Girls Empowerment Camp (GEC), a free two-day event open to all genders ages 14-21, on Saturday, October 17th and Sunday, October 18th from 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. at Hemet Fire Station 4 (1035 S. Cawston Ave).
The purpose of this camp is to encourage girls to learn more about the fire service and to embrace the career opportunities available to them. The weekend camp will prepare the young women for all aspects of the fire service through workshops, discussion activities, and networking opportunities. The campers will also get a hands-on feel for the physical rigor of firefighting through activity stations, such as tool identification, CPR/first aid, ladder climb, confidence course, and chainsaw, axe, and hose use. The second day of the camp is designed to build on the skills and endurance learned from the first day. On Sunday, there will be a short graduation ceremony at 5:00 p.m. for all the participants; family and friends are welcome to attend!
Lunch will be provided on both days. Participants are asked to dress in black or navy-blue workout pants. Shorts are not recommended. T-shirts will be provided. Workout shoes are required. Hair should be tied back for safety.
