Issaquah PTSA Council partners with the Circle and PEPS to provide this FREE Parent Education event on January 15, Thursday, 1pm - 2:30pm at the Circle, 160 NW Gilman Blvd, Issaquah, WA 98027. This 90-minute interactive workshop helps parents understand what to expect at each stage. We’ll cover changing school expectations, parent–school partnerships, and strategies to stay engaged, support independence, confidence, and success, with special guidance for international families navigating a new academic culture.
Speaker Bio:
Dr. Swarnima Aswinkumar began her career in Materials Science and Engineering before moving into the non-profit Family and Community Engagement space when her child entered elementary school in 2012. She has since served in key roles with the Lake Washington Council PTSA and the Lake Washington Schools Foundation leading innovative projects and strengthening programs to better support students and families, helping launch the district’s International Families Welcome Event and earning multiple awards, including the 2018 WASA Community Leadership Award and two Washington State PTA Golden Acorn Awards. Now as Program Innovation and Expansion Manager at PEPS, Swarnima leads the Parents of Adolescents and Teens program and the Affinity Program for Working Mothers, focusing on accessibility, curriculum development, and program quality.
