About this Event
Join Us to Help Protect Non-nuclear Families!
At , we believe that local, state, and national policies must reflect the realities of how people live and love. Non-nuclear families are everywhere—among LGBTQ+ communities, immigrant households, multi-generational homes, and beyond. Yet many of these families remain invisible or unprotected under current laws. Without laws protecting diverse family and relationship structures, people can be denied housing, employment protections, visitation rights, leave to care for a partner, healthcare access, and parental recognition.
We have the opportunity to change that. The City of West Hollywood will be voting at their City Council Meeting on Feburary 17th to take :
1) Update their non-discrimination ordiance to protect people in diverse family and relationship structures; and
2) Update their domestic partnership ordiance to allow three or more people to enter into a domestic partnership (if passed, this will be the first City on the West Coast to do this!).
Come join us! You can lend your voice to this movement for change by providing up to 2 minutes of public comment at the City Council meeting. Or you can join us in the audience to provide moral support and celebrate these (hopeful) wins afterwards outside of the City Council Chambers.
