Volunteer Opportunity: Help Plant a New Hedgerow at The Oval! We’re excited to announce one of our many incredible ecology initiatives at The Oval, and we need your help! Join us on Saturday, 30th November 2024 , from 10am to 6pm , to plant 420 saplings , generously awarded to us by The Woodland Trust. These saplings will form a thriving multi-species hedgerow as part of our wildlife corridor and nature recovery plans .
The new hedgerow will feature a variety of native species, including holly, hazel, crab apple, downy birch, hawthorn, goat willow, dogwood, wild cherry, silver birch , and rowan . These plants will provide an abundance of fruit and berries for small mammals and birds, while also offering crucial habitat for bees and other insects in our urban environment!
If you're passionate about wildlife and fancy a day outdoors meeting new people, we’d love for you to join us.
To sign up for this event, or for updates on the project, register via Eventbrite or sign up as a volunteer on our website and become part of The Oval Ecology Club , which meets every Friday and Saturday, 10am-2pm.
