FREE and Open to the PublicAs part of the Dorothy Godtland Lecture Series, the Board of Directors is pleased to present Andrea Turini, along with her presentation Heirloom Fire: Czech Glasswork.
Her presentation draws on firsthand experiences in Jablonec nad Nisou, a region in Czechia, long recognized as a world center of bead and button production.
Attendees will learn about the evolution of the Czech glass industry, generational traditions passed down, the cultural significance of beads and buttons, and the resilience of a cottage industry that once fed the entire region; as well as, an interactive demonstration about buttons and beads.
Those attending this FREE lecture will have the opportunity to sign up for a one hour hands-on jewelry class where you can create your own set of earrings/bracelet ($40 per person) OR earrings/necklace ($45 person) set on Saturday, May 30 at either 10am or 1pm.
This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Southeastern Minnesota Arts Council thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts & cultural heritage fund.
