Get into the holiday spirit with this skill-building workshop! Join coop member Kimberly Martin as she shows you how to create a beautiful hand-knitted Christmas stocking using the magic loop method, perfect for knitting in the round on long circular needles.
Basic knitting knowledge (knit, purl, cast on/bind off) is a must.
This is not a learn to knit class. Some experience with knitting in the round is helpful but not required.
This project is a joyful mix of tradition and technique, featuring:
Stranded colorwork for a bold, classic holiday motif. A Latvian braid, adding an elegant and textured decorative band. An afterthought heel, giving your stocking a clean finish and professional look
Whether you're an adventurous beginner ready to learn new techniques or an intermediate knitter looking to expand your skill set, this workshop is a great way to celebrate the season while crafting a keepsake to treasure for years to come.
This is a two Saturday class. The first Saturday you’ll focus on colorwork and the Latvian braid. During the intervening week you’ll knit the plain stocking between the top and the foot. Then on the second Saturday you’ll learn to finish the heel and toe with two colors as shown in the picture.
Skills You'll Learn:
*Magic loop
*Reading colorwork charts
*Creating a Latvian braid
*Inserting and working an afterthought heel
*Kitchener Stitch
