This National Family History Month, join local artist and author Jane Sinclair for a unique blend of art and family history.
About this Event

Jane, daughter of Melbourne landscape painter Jean Langley and music critic John Sinclair, will share personal stories, family photographs and her parents’ correspondence to explore her family’s close friendships with renowned Melbourne art patrons Sunday and John Reed, as well as the celebrated Boyd family, a Victorian artistic dynasty.

The talk will feature images of three early paintings by Arthur Boyd (c1937) never before seen in public, along with family photographs featuring the Reeds and Boyds, offering a unique glimpse into the relationships and artistic circles that shaped Melbourne’s cultural history.

Jane’s two books, Shy Love Smiles and Acid Drops: Letters from a Difficult Marriage (2021) and A Crying Sort of Happiness: Letters of Love and Despair (2024), will be available for purchase.
