Its was a love affair that began in 2003 when legendary promoter and creator of Bigfish Tuck (TC) Cheah called Mark Doyle to invite him to Manila for the very first Hedkandi event. Mark says " It utterly blew my mind that so many people turned up to enjoy the party it also took place on my birthday and at one point over 1500 people sang happy birthday to me while Pixie Cheah presented me with a cake. It was an utterly surreal experience to be felt so unknown in Asia yet to be utterly embraced by this city and its people who I'd never visited."
Further parties included visits to Boracay where the soundtrack to the entire island seemed to be one copy of Beach House or another and a New Years Event where I actually proposed to my wife in front of a 1000 people (thankfully she said yes).
The Philippines holds a very special place in my heart and when I returned to Hedkandi back in 2021 I knew we had to return with one truly amazing party. Our 25th Anniversary take place at the newly opened event space Stratosphere and alongside Team Kandi we have an amazing special guest - The legendary Moony.
Mark has worked with Moony once before and says "she's just truly unbelievable a truly beautiful human being and an amazing vocalist I'm so happy she agreed to join us on this very special night. I included many of her tracks on our Hedkandi albums and can't wait to hear tracks like Dove, Acrobats and Point of View live."
Joining Mark will be Team Kandi members from London, Ibiza and Asia. Samantha M became on of our resident Ibiza vocalists last summer. Vicky B is an amazing Sax player and singer, Lippy is one of the UKs finest and most flamboyant percussionists and we've got two of our top Asia residents Chris Hayton and Mark Henderson as warm up DJs.
Get ready Manila this is going to be something truly special.
