About Steer Friends
Conveniently located in the heart of Stouffville, Steer Friends provides compassionate day program support for youth and adults with disabilities and complex care needs across York Region and the GTA.
We proudly serve a diverse group of individuals, including those living with cerebral palsy, autism, genetic and seizure disorders. Many of our members have graduated high school, and Steer Friends offers a space where they can thrive, grow, and stay connected to their community.
Our mission is to empower and enrich lives through engaging activities like art exploration, skills acquisition, community involvement, and therapies. By focusing on each individual’s unique needs, we aim to inspire personal growth, foster independence, and promote well-being.
Our Story
Steer Friends was founded by parents of an adult daughter with complex needs who faced limited options for post-high school care. With a commitment to creating a space where their daughter and others like her could thrive, they started Steer Friends to ensure every member has access to high-quality care and opportunities to grow.
Our Vision
We envision a future where people with developmental and physical disabilities are seen for their abilities, not their disabilities. At Steer Friends, we believe in fostering inclusion, acceptance, and recognition of all as valued members of the community.
