Many of our immigrant and BIPOC neighbors are being targeted and are afraid. While we may not be able to change the laws overnight, we can show care, presence, and solidarity by showing up for one another—each in the way that feels safest.
Join us for a brief community gathering as we form a hand-holding circle and quite literally wrap our hearts around our neighborhood. The more people who join, the larger and stronger our circle becomes.
What to expect:
🕯 A shared candle-lighting ceremony, passing light from one person to the next
✨ Columbia Heights Mutual Aid on site — learn how to give help, ask for help, or get connected
🧣 Dress for the weather
📣 Bring signs, art, whistles, or messages of care
📸 Drone footage planned (We need a volunteer who can do this.)
🛑 This gathering is being planned as a safe, welcoming space. We also recognize that not everyone can attend in person. A virtual option will be available for those joining from home. While it may not be highly interactive, your presence still matters.
