The S.O.’s first concert of 2026 features a celebration of love and valor, as we honor the beginning of America’s 250th anniversary, and ring in Valentine’s Day weekend in style.
The first half features music from John Williams’ soundtrack to “The Patriot,” a movie telling the story of the fight for American independence in South Carolina and Georgia, which was filmed in Charleston and Summerville! We continue with the iconic music from Max Steiner’s Casablanca — a romantic drama filmed and set during World War II. The first half ends with a performance by one of our very own S.O. musicians - the winner of the Summerville Orchestra Concerto Competition!
The second half features Claude Debussy’s enchanting and hypnotizing music from L’Après-midi d’un faune (The Afternoon of a Faun), and a rare performance of British composer Ruth Gipps’ Symphony No. 2.
This concert is sponsored by The Anthony & Janice Oglietti Charitable Fund and is part of the Subscription Series which is sponsored by Edgeworth Capital Group.
