Who is this for?
This workshop is for youth and adults of all ages and stages (married or single). The vision is to deepen our theology and experience of community in our local church.
Session 1 - "Why Marriage & Singleness are Core Gospel Issues"
We will begin by confronting the reality of where we are right now in our world in regards to singleness and marriage. We will then consider how singleness and marriage each testify to the gospel in important but different ways and why both lived well in Christian community are vital for a balanced message of the gospel. We will end by unpacking a radical biblical vision for spiritual family as taught and modeled by Jesus and Paul showing how every believer, whether single or married, was meant to experience spiritual intimacy in the context of community.
* After this session, we encourage people to purchase "Singleness in God's Redemptive Story" in order to learn more.
Session 2 - "Singleness, Sexuality & Identity: Navigating Biblical Versus Modern Worldviews"
In a world full of different views around sexual orientation/gender dysphoria/singleness, and a culture telling us we need to agree and affirm in order to unite, how do we respond? We will focus on understanding how singleness, relationships, sexuality, and identity relate to underlying sex-centric versus theo-centric worldviews and how we can best navigate them in our world today. We will explore what vision the Bible paints for us as a community which does not just stand in opposition, but invites all people into a richer, deeper, and fuller picture of His Kingdom People.
Session 3 - "How to Minister Effectively as Siblings in Our Church"
Bringing everything together, we will explore practically how to integrate each other into meaningful community, effectively minister to each other, and spurring each other into greater Kingdom engagement. This includes taking time to capture the callings of marrieds and singles within community, because we are meant to work together to support each other and participate in God's mission together.
