Communication is about more than hearing sounds. It’s about staying connected to the people, activities, and experiences that enrich our lives.
Join audiologist Henry Botzum for an engaging discussion on communication, healthy aging, and practical strategies for staying connected. Together, we’ll explore how communication changes over time, why understanding speech can become more difficult in noisy environments, and what individuals and families can do to support meaningful conversations and participation in everyday life.
Whether you’re experiencing communication challenges yourself, supporting a loved one, or simply interested in aging well, this presentation will provide useful information and practical tools for staying connected and engaged.
Topics include:
• Hearing versus understanding
• Communication changes that may occur with aging
• Background noise and listening challenges
• Communication and healthy aging
• Practical strategies for staying connected
Dr. Henry Botzum, AuD, lives and works in Southern Vermont, where he founded Shires Hearing & Wellness and helps individuals, families, and community organizations improve communication access and participation. An audiologist and graduate of the University of Memphis, Henry is passionate about creating environments where everyone can stay connected, informed, and engaged.
