About this Event

With this series, we aim to provide a forum for faculty, students, and staff to engage in meaningful conversations and become informed about recent trends and insights in the field of health equity. Participants of this series will gain more knowledge on health disparities and become empowered to engage in actions that contribute to health equity in research, medical education, and for our communities at large.

This Month's Speaker:

Join us for the next IEHE Health Equity Speaker Series with JohnRoss Rizzo, MD.

Dr. John-Ross Rizzo is a physician-scientist and rehabilitation medicine specialist whose work sits at the intersection of medicine, engineering, neuroscience, artificial intelligence, and health equity. At NYU Langone Health, he serves as Deputy Director of the Institute for Excellence in Health Equity and holds faculty appointments in Rehabilitation Medicine, Ophthalmology, Neurology, and the NYU Tandon School of Engineering.

His interdisciplinary work focuses on developing assistive technologies and precision rehabilitation strategies while addressing the structural and systemic barriers that contribute to inequitable healthcare for people with disabilities. As a physician-scientist living with vision loss, Dr. Rizzo draws upon both professional expertise and lived experience to advance accessibility, disability inclusion, independence, and health equity.

Dr. Rizzo has led more than $60 million in federally funded research and authored nearly 200 peer-reviewed publications. He also serves on the boards of VISIONS, Lighthouse Guild, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, and other organizations committed to advancing accessibility, disability inclusion, and equitable participation.
