Overcoming Disparities and Roadblocks in Healthcare with Community-Based Approaches

At Women's Cancer Resource Center (WCRC), we have committed nearly four decades to serving women of color and low-income individuals with cancer in Alameda and Contra Costa counties. This fall, we're excited to broaden our reach and share our expertise in advancing equitable access to cancer support, information, and care with an even wider audience.

Health Equity in Action, hosted by WCRC, is an educational symposium, gathering community organizations, medical providers, and area health justice experts to discuss building more equitable and community-responsive health systems. This event is a pivotal opportunity to highlight the ability of community-based models of care to overcome systemic disparities in health outcomes for historically marginalized patients.

The event will cover topics including creating patient-centered care models, the value of patient navigation in overcoming barriers, and how existing systems can support this work.
