Join us on Thursday, November 21st at Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) for an enlightening afternoon with Dr. Jim O’Connell, a trailblazer in street medicine. Gain invaluable insights into providing compassionate care to people experiencing homelessness and learn how to ensure equitable and dignified access to quality healthcare for all individuals and families in our community. About the Speaker
Dr. Jim O’Connell, MD (he/him) is the President of Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program and an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. A Harvard Medical School graduate, Dr. O’Connell has dedicated his career to providing healthcare for homeless individuals. He founded the nation’s first medical respite program and developed the first computerized medical record for a homeless program. Dr. O’Connell has served as the National Program Director of the Homeless Families Program and is the editor of a key manual on healthcare for homeless persons. His work has been featured in numerous medical journals and his book, Stories from the Shadows: Reflections of a Street Doctor, was highlighted on NPR’s Fresh Air. His efforts are also chronicled in the New York Times Best Seller, Rough Sleepers by Tracy Kidder.
