From the southern Appalachians to right here in the Rangeley Region—and all the way to the source of drinking water for southern Maine—these stories reveal how water connects people, fish, and wildlife, sustains our way of life, and inspires us to restore and protect this resource for future generations.

Film synopsis: Tucked away in a remote corner of Maine's western mountains, the Kennebago River—known by the Wabanaki as The Land of Sweet Flowing Waters—is one of the last remaining strongholds for wild, native Eastern brook trout in the United States. Healing the Sweet Flowing Waters, filmed by award-winning filmmaker and nature cinematographer Paul Rezendes and edited by Maine Mountain Media, explores the rich angling heritage of the Rangeley Region and traces how centuries of human impact have altered this legendary landscape. Through stunning imagery and storytelling, the film follows a dedicated team of conservationists, led by Rangeley Lakes Heritage Trust, who are working to restore the Kennebago River, reconnect its waters, and create the conditions for wild brook trout to thrive once again.
