Healing in Nature - Dusk to Night: Herbal Fire & Forest Gathering

About the Event
Join us for a deeply nourishing, trauma-informed evening designed to support reconnection with nature, seasonal rhythm, and inner stillness. Dusk to Night is a guided transition experience, moving from the energy of daylight into the quiet intelligence of night. As the sun sets, we slow down together, tuning into the subtle changes in the land, the body, and the nervous system.
Held in the peaceful garden space of Moksha Holistic Therapies CIC in Matlock, this gathering blends herbal learning, mindfulness, fire-based community practice, and seasonal nourishment. Rather than a daytime herb walk, this evening invites a more sensory, reflective, and embodied way of being with plants and nature.
Facilitated by Azim Nobeebaccus, Samantha Nobeebaccus, and Jan Muse (Magical Muse Medicine Weaver), the experience combines practical herbal wisdom with grounding practices that support relaxation, emotional balance, and connection.
This is an invitation to step out of busyness and into presence, to witness the day end, and allow the body and mind to follow nature into rest.
What the Evening Will Include
Opening Circle & Sun Gratitude Meditation
We begin by gathering in circle as the light begins to soften. Through grounding and gentle presence practices, we open the space and set intention for the evening. A guided meditation will honour the sun, acknowledging its warmth, energy, and life-giving force, offering gratitude for the day before consciously transitioning into the evening. This moment marks the threshold between light and dark, activity and rest, doing and being.
Twilight Herb Walk (Sensory Exploration)
We then take a gentle walk into the nearby natural surroundings as dusk begins to fall.
Rather than focusing on detailed plant identification, this is a sensory-led herbal experience, inviting you to:
Notice scent, texture, and atmosphere as light fades
Observe how plants and trees feel different at twilight
Develop a quieter, more intuitive relationship with the land
Learn simple seasonal herbs that support wellbeing and balance
This is an invitation to slow down and experience nature through presence rather than analysis.
Fire Circle & Herbal Soup Making
As darkness arrives, we gather around the fire. The fire becomes the heart of the evening, offering warmth, stillness, and focus. Together we will:
Prepare and share a nourishing seasonal herbal soup
Explore herbs such as thyme, rosemary, sage, nettle, and bay
Learn how these plants support digestion, immunity, and grounding
Share reflections, stories, and gentle conversation around the fire
This part of the evening centres nourishment, both physical and emotional, as we move deeper into night.
Night Herbal Tea & Integration
As the fire settles, we transition into calm and rest.
A warming herbal tea infusion supports the body’s natural descent into night, with calming plants such as:
Lemon Verbena
Chamomile
Habek (Egyptian Mountain Mint)
Other seasonal calming herbs
This is a time for reflection, quiet connection, and integration of the evening’s experience.
Closing Under the Evening Sky
We close the gathering with a gentle grounding practice, allowing space for stillness and completion.
This may include:
A guided relaxation or body scan
Listening to night sounds and fire embers
Quiet gratitude or reflective presence
The evening ends with a sense of ease, softness, and reconnection to natural rhythm.
Benefits of the Experience
Participants often leave feeling:
- More grounded and emotionally settled
- Calmer in the nervous system
- Nourished and restored
- Reconnected to nature and seasonal rhythm
- Mentally clearer and more present
- Supported by community connection
Important Information
The experience includes walking on uneven ground; please attend with awareness of mobility needs
Wear comfortable clothing suitable for evening weather
Bring water if needed
All practices are invitational and can be adapted to comfort level
No prior herbal or meditation experience is required
