Headlands Lights Out Challenge! with Veronica Lozen, Otsego Conservation District
Join communities across Northern Michigan as we turn off the lights from 10:30pm - 11:30pm on the night of the new moon to help create the darkest skies ever recorded at the Headlands! Participation is voluntary—spread the word and be part of this unique event.
✨ 8pm – Special presentation on the effects of light pollution (Waterfront Event Center)
Veronica Lozen from the Otsego Conservation District will present on light pollution and the effects it has on humans, animals and plants. Listeners will learn about conserving the night sky and tips to take home and share with friends and family!
🔭 Afterward – Night sky observing with our telescopes, weather permitting
☄️the Perseid meteor shower will be visible this week! One of the best viewed showers of the year. During optimal conditions viewers can see over 50 meteors per hour!
