HCAS conducts public open houses on one
Saturday night of each month throughout the year. The general public is invited to these events which are held at the observatory by Harford Community College.
Bring your family, bring your friends, bring a date! All ages are welcome! Join us for a night of fun and learning! We will be observing the moon, planets, constellations, double stars, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies! There will be telescopes set up in the parking lot for viewing and there is a big telescope inside the observatory dome. There is often a classroom presentation taking place inside the observatory as well.
🔭 Have an astronomy-related question? Our members will be more than happy to answer it for you. Need help with your telescope? We can square you away with that as well!
🚗 Parking is available at the Harford Technical High School. If you are facing the front of the building, the parking lot is on the right side and is just a short walk from the observatory up the adjacent driveway. People with difficulty walking can see about parking up by the observatory!
⚠️ Due to ongoing construction, the usual path through the trees is currently blocked. However, an alternate path through about halfway up the parking lot has been cleared or you can move around to the right and enter the drive way from along Thomas Run. Please use caution!
