City Winery St. Louis presents Corb Lund & Hayes Carll: Bible on the Dash Tour live on April 26th at 7:30pm!On El Viejo, Corb Lund pays homage to his late friend and mentor Ian Tyson while embracing the simplicity of raw, live recording. “There’s not a single electric instrument,” Lund says, describing the acoustic, one-take sessions in his living room. The album captures themes of gambling, outlaws, and Western life, reflecting Lund’s Alberta roots and his love for cowboy music. Inspired by Marty Robbins, Kris Kristofferson, and others, Lund celebrates a timeless Western ethos that transcends borders. The record is a tribute to Tyson, known as "El Viejo," and his enduring influence on Western music and culture.
Hayes Carll’s You Get It All blends humor, heart, and sharp social commentary with classic country storytelling. Over his 20-year career, Carll has mastered songs that make us laugh, cry, and empathize with flawed characters. Co-produced by Allison Moorer and Kenny Greenberg, the album showcases Carll’s rich, worn voice and songwriting at its best. Highlights include the witty “Nice Things,” tackling humanity’s shortcomings, the poignant “Help Me Remember,” exploring dementia, and the tender title track about embracing imperfection in relationships. Honest, subversive, and deeply human, Carll’s music invites us to reflect, connect, and dance.
