Haydn’s Oxford - a stunning program of Haydn Symphonies in historical chamber version - last AHE concerts for 2026!
AHE are expanding its repertoire of historical chamber arrangements with Haydn’s "London" symphonies in historical chamber arrangements by Salomon. It’s incredible how beautiful and dramatic these arrangements are - bringing every nuance, flash of wit and characteristic drama to the surface.
Violinist-impresario Peter Salomon was the guardian angel/shrewd businessman who put Haydn on a boat to London. English audiences went wild, symphonies poured out, sterling poured in. London made Haydn famous and represented a genuine sea-change in music history: the fans were music lovers, not diversion-seeking aristocrats.
We can’t wait to share them with you.
