Joseph Haydn’s joyous work, The Creation, was first performed in 1799, and was probably inspired by the oratorios of Handel which Haydn heard during his visits to England during the 1790s. The oratorio depicts and celebrates the creation of the world in all its beauty, and it is one of Haydn’s masterpieces, beloved by singers and audiences alike. The Hanover Band, one of Britain’s finest period instrument orchestras, will accompany this performance. The conductor will be the Cathedral’s Director of Music, David Halls.
