Hawley Bog Walk: Carnivorous Plants, Orchids, and More

At an elevation of 1,800 feet, Hawley Bog feels more like the bogs of northern New England than western Massachusetts. This pristine peatland comes alive in summer with orchids (including blooming, grass pink, and fringed), all three of Massachusetts's native insectivorous plants, and a rich community of heath family species that thrive in its cold, acidic conditions.
